Spaceship to Venus tells the story of Jackie, a young woman whose life becomes too complicated when her brother David returns traumatized from serving in Iraq. Her private and bizarre therapy sessions with an anonymous man become more personal as David spirals deeper into depression and warns the community about an Acopalypse in front of the local Stop n' Shop. Humorous and moving, Spaceship to Venus looks at the ways we face our past, and how it effects our future.
Examined Man Theatre was excited to join forces with two fabulous young producers, Sofia Barclay and Lydia Medeiros, and the Old Vic New Voices, an organization spawned from London's Old Vic Theatre to support emerging artists under 30 in London and New York. We were also happy to present the work of Stephanie Fleurantin, a promising new playwright with tremendous emotional weight.
Stephanie Fleurantin's plays include Spaceship to Venus, Bern, and Mittens. She was a recipient of the Princeton University Lewis Center of the Arts Award for Academic Excellence in 2008 for her work in playwriting. A graduate of Princeton University, Fleurantin holds a Certificate in Theater.
