"And in that moment when I began to feel the intense pressure of looming life change . . .
I was handed the incredible gift of this beautiful song . . ."
The Light Inside is a multi-disciplinary performance piece exploring and celebrating music and its connection to the human life cycle, from lullabies to requiems. If music didn’t exist in our lives, what would be missing? The Light Inside combines personal stories drawn from our cast and crew with rituals, myths, dance, audience participation and of course, songs, to examine the archetypal arc of human life, and the ways music expresses and/or fulfills our deepest human needs.
We are excited to be premiering this production in New York City at our old stomping grounds Center Stage, NY, the site of our acclaimed production of Thinking Makes It So!

Meet The Cast!
Franck Juste studied theater at Binghamton University and has been working since 2007. Born in Los Angeles to Haitian Immigrants, he moved to the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn at age 6. He was influenced by the vibrant culturally diverse borough of Brooklyn. Among his many feats, he's known for humming Duel of The Fates from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace while wielding a lethal Force FX light saber as well as being able to recite the entire 5 minute and 38 second song Triumph by the Wu-Tang Clan word for word.

Lydia de Medeiros is originally from southern California but grew up mostly in Spring, Texas. She completed the 2-year professional acting workshop at Circle in the Square. A highlight from her career would be Phil Hoffman coming to see her production of The Seagull earlier this year. An important song to her: Carinhoso. "It is the most passionate song I've ever heard." Her passion: her family. "I believe your family is the most important part of your life. Without them, you wouldn't be who you are and with them you are the most yourself."
Shauna Miles* was born in Brooklyn & raised on Long Island. She received her BFA from Boston University’s School for the Arts and her MFA from the National Theatre Conservatory at the Denver Center for Performing Arts. While at the NTC she wrote & performed her first solo piece, Cleopatra at Hillside Manor, a daunting task that she’s extremely proud to have accomplished. Favorite song: Jeff Buckley's Lover, You Should've Come Over. "Jeff Buckley = brilliance = my muse."

Matthew Ellis Murphy* went to Lawrence University, and just completed his MFA at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Originally from Eagan, MN, he plays a variety of instruments from piano to drums to the Irish whistle. Greatest gig? A devised piece called Chain of Fools at the Guthrie Theater. Flogging Molly's The Son Never Shines (On Closed Doors) is a song he holds dear to his heart.
Alison Scaramella is from the little town of North Haven, CT. A graduate of Connecticutt College, BADA, and the Strasberg Institute, she is currently nominated for a New York Innovative Theatre Award for Best Ensemble in last season's Pink! The Play with DownPayment Productions. She loves Haribo Happy Cola Candy. The song “How High The Moon” is really important to her, because it reminds her that she is part of something greater than herself.

Kyle Schaefer* is from Tulsa, OK. He got his BS in Theatre Performance from the University of Evansville in Indiana, and his Acting MFA from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. His last show was originating Young Jack in the World Premiere of The Tosca Project, a dance-theater collaboration between A.C.T. and the San Francisco Ballet. Kyle’s passionate about the amazing scope and diversity of what human beings can achieve and create. An important song, for whatever reason, is Mexican Blue by Jolie Holland.
